What upholstery fabric is the easiest and cheapest to keep clean?

Fibreguard uses stain-free technology. No professional cleaning required – just use water! Extremely durable. Pet and child friendly. Contact us to view the Fibreguard range.

What are your lead times for curtains and blinds?

For curtains – 10-14 working days, depending on fabric availability. For blinds – 7-12 working days (depends on who the supplier is).

How long will I be without my furniture while re-upholstering?

Once we have your fabric (which usually takes about a week to arrive), we arrange collection of your furniture and will require it for 2 weeks. During the busy months from September-December, this time may be a few days longer, but conversely, from January-August, it may be quicker.

Do you repair blinds?

Yes. Though sometimes, if the blind is very old, sun damaged, slats are broken or fabric is torn, it may not be the best choice to repair and may be better to replace.

How do I keep my curtains and blinds clean?

Curtains and blinds can be cleaned on site or removed, cleaned and replaced. We work closely with trusted cleaning companies, who we can confidently recommend to you.

Do I need to have lining for my curtains?

Lining will protect your fabric from fading/discolouring due to the sun’s rays. It also creates an extra layer of insulation. Linings range from total Blockout lining, which is essential if you want to darken a room during the day, to a light poly/cotton lining. You can also add interlining for sound absorption.

What is the best window covering for direct sunlight?

That depends on your other requirements. Do you have a view? Do you require privacy? Do you need good insulation to combat the heat in the room but still want filtered light? Venetian blinds and shutters don’t keep out as much sunlight as blackout curtains, but they give you light control by adjusting the position of the slats. You can retain your view while managing direct sunlight and protecting your furniture. Honeycomb blinds are excellent for insulation and come in a variety of opaque, translucent or blockout configurations.

I have non-standard shaped windows. Can you recommend a window covering?

We love a challenge and are experts at finding a solution for your unusual shaped windows. Some options are Honeycomb blinds which are very versatile, Roman blinds that can be designed to fit different shapes, static curtain drapes that can be drawn back for light etc.

I am in a wheelchair and am unable to reach the windows over my kitchen counter. What do you suggest I use as a window covering?

Each situation requires a different solution, but we will work with you to take away the stress of not being Stretch Armstrong. Maybe the solution is extra long control cords or an extension handle. The best solution is always going to be motorisation. We can motorise your curtains and blinds, or incorporate automation of your lights too, all in one system – from your cell phone – anywhere in the world. Your choices are endless.
